Missions

Church of the Highlands has many outreach opportunities, locally and around the world.

Click here for information on San Bruno Fire Resources & Recovery.

At Highlands, we are privileged to have various opportunities to serve our God by spreading His Word and His love in practical ways. If you would like to join in, please contact the church office at 650.873.4095.
"For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you took care of Me; I was in prison and you visited Me...I assure you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me." Matthew 25:35-36 & 40 ""

HOLIDAY OUTREACH

Gifts for Kids at the Gate
You can bring to joy to child at Christmas. We'll be collecting gifts for the children who visit their parents at the local jail. We are collecting gifts until Friday, December 23 and we'll distribute the gifts on Christmas Eve morning from 8:00 AM to Noon.

Church of the Highlands has many ongoing projects that allow us to reach out to local, domestic and worldwide communities. In addition to the missions projects highlighted here, we recently completed our new YOUTH CENTER. By having a dedicated space for our young people to meet, worship and learn, we'll be able to better meet their needs. They are the church of the future and now they have space to grow.

Our Young Adults (18-30) coordinated an outreach to the community this summer. They took Christ's love to the homeless, the elderly, troubled teens and others. Working with YWAM, Alpha Pregnancy Center, Pacifica Gardens, City Crossroads, and other organizations, they were able to touch many hearts for Jesus.

NEXT TRIP IN EARLY MARCH
Everyone is welcome to join us! We leave at 7:00 AM and return around 7:00 PM each trip.

Donation Drop-off Days
January 28, February 11 & 25
Lower Parking Lot - 10 AM to 3 PM

We minister to a small community in the Central Valley. The town of Mendota has a high unemployment rate of over 47% and the people are hurting. Our team travels to Mendota once a month to bring badly needed food and clothing; free haircuts; and the message of hope, salvation, and Christ's love. Recently, we ordained Pastor Ohaged Mondol who is our pastor in Mendota. Home Bible Studies have been started, and services are being held. Pastor Hugo Tejada invites you to join the team. If you can't make the trips, there are other ways to help. Financial donations are greatly appreciated as are other donations, such as: non-perishable food, new and almost-new clothing or toys. These may be brought in on specified drop-off days (dates & times will be announced). Donations may not be dropped off in the mall or classrooms at any time.

Daybreak is our radio ministry. Our radio program can be heard in the Bay Area on KFAX (AM 1100) Mon - Fri at 6:30 AM and Sunday at 7:30 AM. Daybreak can also be heard online at daybreakradio.com

Our outreach is to the San Francisco County Jail. Our team conducts 5 services a week (3 in English, 2 in Spanish, and 1 for women). Individual counseling is also provided. In addition, we minister to the children of inmates through our "Gifts for Kids at the Gate" outreach. Our Jail Ministry Director, Hermann Reiss welcomes volunteers.

Seniors in local convaleschent homes are visited for fellowship and a message from God's Word. 1st Sunday in Pacifica and 3rd Sunday in San Bruno. Other visits are made upon request by our visitation team.

A team of volunteers serves the homeless with CityTeam Ministries in San Francisco on 3rd Saturdays. Praise, some good food, and a message of hope from God's word are provided for people in need. At Easter time, we collect socks stuffed with badly needed items and distribute them to people in need through CityTeam.

As Christians, we have great news to share with the world. We offer classes to help you learn to share your faith and we offer opportunities to do so. Don't keep the good news to yourself! Through personal evangelism, church events, concerts, community events and more, we hope to win our families and our community for Jesus Christ.

Our neighbors south of the border are near and dear to our hearts. Over the years we have had many teams of adults, youth and families help witih building projects and other ministries. Several times a year a team goes to Mexico to help and minister at an orphanage in the Mexicali area.

We have been involved in several missions projects in the Philippines including:
  • Metro Manila Foot Bridge
  • A multi-purpose hall
  • Toclong Church Feeding Center
  • Home of Joy Orphanage
  • Manubo Training Center
  • Camp Mariano Christian Camp
Many in our church have also reached out to those affected by natural disasters such as typhoons and flooding.

Next Trip - February 20, 2012
A small team will minister in Borneo from February 20 to March 5. If you are interested in participating, call Pastor Tony Lolong at 650.266.4317.

Our current focus in Borneo is on the "Living Waters Village". This village is a missionary outreach to orphans and other children from jungle villages. Providing the gospel, safety, medical attention, and a Christian education are the priorities. As these children grow  up, they will be able to share the gospel in their own villages. Pastor Tony Lolong & Pastor Donald Sheley led a missions team to Borneo in October 2010, and they had a wonderful experience. Another team went in March 2011. "Living Waters" welcomes individuals and teams for short-term trips to help in many ways (cooking, music, teaching, building, all skills are welcome). Financial gifts are also welcome.

Our previous efforts in Borneo focused on an orphanage as well. We were able to hep them purchase chickens to help the orphanage become self-sufficient. The goal was to use the eggs for food and to trade eggs and fresh baked bread for other foods and needed items.
