Cultural Fellowships
Church of the Highlands is made up of many diverse cultural and ethnic groups. Our hope is to reach out into our community and bring God's Word to everyone no matter what their cultural background or language.
We have several fellowship groups here at Highlands that are made up of Chinese, Filipino and Hispanic cultures. These groups meet for Bible study, Sunday school, home fellowships, and other events intended to bring others into God's family. They are also an integral part of the church family and participate in life of the church as a whole.
Chinese Ministries
Our Chinese Ministries offer a Sunday school class that meets on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM. There are also opportunities for fellowship and sometimes they join together with other cultural groups for special potlucks and events.
York Lee is our Chinese Sunday school class leader.
Filipino Ministries
Our Filipino Ministries offer many on-going activities that encourage participation and integration into the Body of Christ here at Highlands. There is a Sunday school that meets at 10:00 AM on Sunday mornings, and we have a number of home Bible studies that meet on a regular basis. We have two Filipino Outreach Choirs that minister here as well as in the community. The men's choir, Gentlemen of Praise (GOP), and the women's choir, Joyful Singers (JS), sing at local venues during the holidays and here at the church for special events. Each year, in December, we celebrate Pasko sa Highlands, a wonderful celebration of Christmas featuring such artists as Eddie Mesa and Lirio Vital. It's a wonderful chance to invite family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to church for a great night of music and fun.
Pastors Abner Nombrado and Bert Cortez oversee our Filipino Ministries. For more information, call either Pastor Abner at 650.266.4314 or Pastor Bert at 650.266.4309.
Hispanic Ministries
Our Hispanic Ministries offer Sunday school at 10:00 AM, home Bible studies and prayer groups, a Tuesday night women's study, a Wednesday night Bible study, concerts, fellowship and missions opportunities. Spanish translation is offered during the 11:30 AM service. Mission to Mexico, a ministry to an orphanage in Mexico, and other outreach efforts to local Hispanic communities are on-going acts of service coordinated by our Hispanic Ministries.
